SAP Certification
What is SAP certification?
There are several levels of integration certification that can be obtained from SAP. However, third-party applications that integrate with one or more of SAP applications can obtain a "SAP Certified" designation.
Unlike 20 years ago, the chances of encountering a SAP implementation within a large or midsize company are very high. Today, SAP is the leading provider of enterprise-wide business applications.
Even though SAP has a comprehensive suite of business applications, there is still plenty of room for specialized third-party applications built around SAP’s business suite. To ensure certain quality standards, SAP has created a program to certify third-party application integration to its business suite.
In this certification process, a specific scenario as defined by SAP will be tested to criterias defined by SAP in one of its worldwide Labs (Palo Alto, Walldorf, Bangalore). Once the exam has been passed, the third-party receives a "SAP Certified" status and is then listed in various publications as well as on SAP’s website.
Why do I need to certify my product with SAP?
A third-party is not required to certify a product with SAP and to be able to operate with SAP’s application. However, there are many benefits for a third-party to get SAP certified. These range from marketing benefits to shortened implementation cycles as the integration is already pre-tested.
In addition, the certification program is so established in the field that customers are typically asking a third-party for their SAP certification status, before they engage with the third-party so that it can even become a competitive advantage.
What can LeverX do to help with SAP certification?
Typically, a third-party either does not have any SAP skills or very limited in-house SAP skills to build the integration and then get it certified. Usually each integration has two components. You need to know and understand various SAP technologies that can be applied to an integration project. Depending on certain environmental or technology requirements, there are always choices to be made. This is the technical side of the integration between a third-party product and SAP. In addition, you also need a certain level of application level knowledge to identify the best way of integration from a process level view. This is called semantic level integration.
LeverX provides both the technical and application level skills necessary to build an integration into SAP successfully and as quickly as possible. As our consultants work exclusively with SAP, its technologies and applications, we can give you the best advice on how to integrate your product and how to get it certified in the most cost-effective way.
In addition, LeverX itself has been certified by SAP’s ICC (Integration and Certification Center) to provide certification services to third-parties. We can help you prepare for certification at each step of the way; from solution design to design implementation, to taking you to one of the SAP Labs for certification.
